Ever wonder why small artists write text on their Reels like "POV..." or "When you..." or "Day 25 of..."
These are called text hooks. 👇
A good text hook can stop people from scrolling.
A great text hook can make your video go viral & help you build a fanbase overnight for your music.
So how do you write a great hook?
Today, I'm revealing the simple formula to flip viral hooks to use in your videos:

🔍 1. Find a hook you want to flip
1. Open the “Reels Tab” on the Instagram app.
2. Scroll through videos until you find one with a hook that grabs your attention.
3. Write that hook down.

🔑 2. Locate the keywords
The keywords in a hook are the words you will switch in step 3 to fit your brand and vibe.
Basically, the keywords are the main descriptor words in the hook.
Example 1: “Bro I just found this Lana del Rey remix and I can’t get it outta my head…”
Keywords: “Lana del Rey remix”
Example 2: “POV: you finally found 80s goth music in 2024”
Keywords: “80s goth music”
🖇️ 3. Turn the hook into a template
Templates are perfect to save & use later.
To create a template, simply remove the keywords and put in placeholder descriptors:
Example 1: “Bro I just found this Lana del Rey remix and I can’t get it outta my head…”
Template: “Bro I just found this [describe song] and I can’t get it outta my head…”
Example 2: “POV: you finally found 80s goth music in 2024”
Template: “POV: you finally found [era & genre] in 2024”
🏁 4. Flip the hook
The last step is to switch the keywords to fit your brand/vibe.
Example 1: If you want to use the “Bro I just found this [describe song] and I can’t get it outta my head…” template, and you created a mashup of Zedd & The Weeknd, you would flip the hook to be “Bro I just found this Zedd & The Weeknd mashup and I can’t get it outta my head…”.
Example 2: If you want to use the “POV: you finally found [era & genre] in 2024” template, and you produce 2010s progressive house, you would flip the hook to be “POV: you finally found 2010s progressive house in 2024”.
