I asked the top artists, โHow do your videos beat the algorithm?โ
They all said the same thing: โI just remake what works in my own style.โ
So here are 3 ideas blowing up right now, and exactly how to remake them to get your music heard.
1. Show your double life
Artist: @wassumusic
Hook: Does your office know who you become at night?
Template: Does your [day job, school, or family] know who you become [when you make music]?
Example: Does your boss know who I become at 2am?
Why it works:
Contrast: The big switch surprises people, so they are more likely to connect with the video.
Relatable: So many artists have a day job. The top comment, "suit and tie by day, 30,000 steps by night," got 517 likes. People see themselves in it and share it with friends who live the same double life.
How to do it: Film a few seconds at your day job, school, or desk looking bored. Then cut to you making music, on stage, or in the studio right when your song drops.
2. Let them discover you
Artist: @teesadagostino
Hook: congratulations! you just discovered a super underground, hidden, niche piano composer that you can now gatekeep (if u want u like don't have to). hi my name is Teesa and i'm trying to bring back romantic era sounding piano music; i hope you like my sound<3
Template: Congratulations! You just discovered a [describe what kind of artist you are in niche detail] that you can now gatekeep. Hi, my name is [your name] and I'm trying to [what your goal is as an artist]. I hope you like my sound
Example: Congratulations! You just discovered a super underground, hidden, niche bedroom producer that you can now gatekeep. Hi, my name is Sam and I'm trying to bring back 2000s progressive house. I hope you like my sound
Views: 116K
Why it works:
Feel special: Words like "discovered" and "gatekeep" make people feel like they found a hidden gem before everyone else. That makes them want to follow and be an early fan.
Clear sound: In one line, they say who they are and what their music sounds like. New listeners know exactly what they get if they follow. Even the comments turned into a fun chat about the classic song that inspired her.
How to do it: Film yourself somewhere casual, like your bed or your studio, vibing to your song. Put your full intro as text on screen, no talking needed. Then let your music play.
3. Mix two worlds
Artist: @cintinitus
Hook: who said German can't sound good over a UK Garage beat?
Template: Who said [a language, instrument, or genre] can't sound good over a [a totally different genre] beat?
Example: Who said a violin can't sound good over a drill beat?
Why it works:
Debate: A "who said..." hook is a small challenge. People comment to agree or disagree, and this one got over 750 comments. More comments push your video to more people.
Surprise: A combo nobody expects makes people stop scrolling to hear how it sounds. Big lyrics popping up on screen keep their eyes on the video, even if they don't speak the language.
How to do it: Film yourself performing your song with a friend, phone held close for a wide, fun angle. Add your lyrics on screen word by word. Make your hook a question people want to answer.
