I asked the top artists, โHow do your videos beat the algorithm?โ
They all said the same thing: โI just remake what works in my own style.โ
So here are 3 ideas blowing up right now, and exactly how to remake them to get your music heard.
1. The nostalgia reaction
Artist: @daniel_leggs
Hook: it was all possible when music used to sound like this
Template: [describe the vibe your song makes you feel] when music used to sound like this
Example: summer nights felt endless when music used to sound like this
Views: 550K
Why it works:
Nostalgia: It brings back good memories. When people feel that, they share it with friends who feel the same way.
Reaction: People stop scrolling to watch a real reaction. We want to feel what others are feeling.
How to do it: Film yourself reacting to your song while it plays. Match your reaction to the feeling in your text hook.
2. Name your own genre
Artist: @lydiavonhof
Hook: is โshakespearean-dark-americanaโ a genre or did I just make it up
Template: is โ[describe the styles your music blends together or how it makes you feel]โ a genre or did I just make it up
Example: is โsad-cowboy-houseโ a genre or did I just make it up
Views: 844K
Why it works:
Curiosity: When you give your sound a strange new label, people want to hear what it sounds like.
Specificity: The more specific the hook, the more it stands out. Vague hooks get skipped. Specific ones get played.
How to do it: Film yourself performing or playing your song. In the text hook, describe your sound using styles and words everyone knows, mixed together in a way nobody has heard before.
3. The โaccidentalโ discovery
Artist: @fletcholsonmusic
Hook: Bad newsโฆ I may have accidentally opened a new dimension
Template: Bad newsโฆ I may have accidentally [describe what your song sounds like in a big, dramatic way]
Example: Bad newsโฆ I may have accidentally made the song that plays when the villain wins
Views: 649K
Why it works:
Curiosity: โAccidentallyโ plus a wild description of your sound makes people need to hear it.
Reaction: A real, in-the-moment reaction makes people stay. When the song lives up to the hype, they like, comment, and share.
How to do it: Start by talking to the camera. Then flip the camera and show your song playing in your DAW. To keep your reaction real, film while youโre making the song, not after itโs finished.
Which idea are you filming this week? Hit reply and tell me, I read every message.
